Pittsburgh Steelers co-owner Dan Rooney has stepped down as the United States' ambassador to Ireland, reports Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Rooney returned to Pittsburgh on Thursday after holding the position since March 2009. He will now resume being one of the league's more active owners.
